FUNNY STORY         with Pastor Bob

CENTERING WORDS     (1 John 4, John 15)

Christ is the vine. We are the branches.

Abide in the vine, and you will abide in love.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Debbie Young - Liturgist

Where does love come from? That inexplicable, irrepressible, undefinable feeling that wells up in us. Love takes over. Parental love. Romantic love. Friendship love. Family love. It takes over and guides our choices and priorities. Where does love come from? In 1 John 4:7 we learn that love comes from God, for God is love. Created in God’s image, we too have the capacity to love. In fact, it is when we love that we show God to others. So let us join together in worship, united in love for God and love for one another. Let us worship God together!

OPENING PRAYER (unison)

You are the vine, Lord Jesus. We are the branches. Nourish us, in this time of worship. Feed us, through scripture and prayer. Quench our spiritual thirst with living water, as we sing God’s praise. Prune us, as you desire, shaping our choices and priorities, making us ready and willing to bear fruit in your name. Live in us, that we might live in you. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE        Pastor Bob

As we pray this morning, I invite you to open your hands in prayer. Simply place your hands on your lap, palms upward.

You can cup your hands together, creating a vessel, or leave them separated and extended. This simple prayer position can symbolize our desire to freely offer ourselves to God and to freely receive from God all that we need.

BLESSING THE OFFERING (unison)

You have given us everything, O God. Our blessings overflow. With these gifts, we share a portion of all that we have with those in need. May your love shine through these tithes and offerings, a reflection of generous hearts who seek to make your presence manifest in our world. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

BENEDICTION

Jesus is the vine; we are the branches. Cut off from the vine, we can do nothing. But nourished and nurtured in the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus, we can bear fruit.

May you live in Christ, and may the word of God live in you, as you bear fruit and glorify our God. Amen.

DEPART IN PEACE…Shalom!
