CALL TO WORSHIP  (Unison)

Jan Claggett – Liturgist

Grant to us, Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who cannot exist without you, may by you be enabled to live according to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

OPENING PRAYER (Genesis 15: 1–6)

(Unison   Jan Claggett – Liturgist

The word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, "Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great." But Abram said, "O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?" And Abram said, "You have given me no offspring, and so a slave born in my house is to be my heir." But the word of the Lord came to him, "This man shall not be your heir; no one but your very own issue shall be your heir." He brought him outside and said, "Look toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them." Then he said to him, "So shall your descendants be." And he believed the Lord; and the Lord reckoned it to him as righteousness.

INVITATION TO OFFERING

Pastor James

God has given us everything. Let us return but a portion of all that we have been given back to God. Give as you are called and as you are able.

OFFERTORY

Give Thanks, by Don Moen

BLESSING OF THE OFFERING    (Unison)

God of overflowing abundance, you bless the earth, and it brings forth food. We, who have been given so much, rejoice in our ability to aid those who are in need. As we present our offering, bless these gifts, the bounty of this good land, that they may reach those who need it most. May we, who call ourselves Christ’s disciples, continue to give freely to our worldly riches, just as Christ gave freely of his heavenly riches. Amen.
