FUNNY STORY         Pastor Bob

CENTERING WORDS

(Ps48, 2 Cor 12, Mark 6)

With each breath we take, our spirits breathe in God’s Spirit. Our souls rejoice in the one who fully knows our hearts. God’s grace sustains us, even in the midst of our weaknesses. As we exhale, let us reflect upon our relationships with our neighbors. The same Spirit that energizes us also nourishes our neighbors. Pondering God’s steadfast love, may we see the ways that God is calling us in this space and time.

CALL TO WORSHIP  (Psalm 48)

Debbie Young - Liturgist

Great is the Lord! God is worthy of our praise! Your name, O God, like your praise, reaches to the ends of the earth. Our God is everlasting and eternal. God will be our guide forever. Let us worship the Lord with glad hearts and uplifted spirits!

OPENING PRAYER  (Unison)

Debbie Young - Liturgist

O Lord, your grace is sufficient for us. You are all that we need. Turn our hearts and minds to worship, as we lean into your strength and receive the comfort and care that only you can give. Send your Holy Spirit to be among us and open our ears to listen closely to what you desire for us to hear. In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen.

BLESSING THE OFFERING  (Unison)

Generous God, accept these gifts, that they may go throughout the world, in the name of Jesus, furthering your kingdom. With you and your blessing, may our small portion be multiplied to do great things for the kingdom of God. Amen.

CALL TO CONFESSION             Pastor Bob

Hear what the Lord says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” Let us confess together, acknowledging our weakness and our deep need for God’s grace. (2 Corinthians 12: 9 NRSV)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION  (Unison)

Gracious God, we confess to you that we are not always honest about our weaknesses. We pretend to be perfect. We pretend that we can do it all. We pretend that we don’t need to rely on you. Forgive us, O Lord, we pray, and shower us with grace, that washes away all our illusions and arrogance. Forgive us, O Lord, we pray, and work within our hearts and our minds to renew our perspective. Forgive us, O Lord, we pray, in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Pastor Bob

Hear the good news of the gospel. Though we are weak, by the grace of our Lord Jesus, we become strong. Hear and proclaim the good news of the gospel: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. And all of God’s People say together:

In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

BENEDICTION

Let us delight in the steadfast love of God, as we share our weaknesses or celebrate our strengths.

Let us sing God’s name, as we journey throughout God’s great earth.

Let us remember God, who guides our path, the Christ who strengthens us, and the Spirit who nurtures us.

May the divine image dance within us forevermore.
