CENTERING WORDS (B. J. Beu)
Look to the skies. Search for God. Know that God is nearer to us than our very breath.
CALL TO WORSHIP (Acts 1)
Debbie Young - Liturgist
The earliest church had to ask themselves many questions. One such question was, “How can we allow God to be part of our decision making?” In the Christian tradition, this process is called discernment. When we are making a decision and try to invite God into the process, we are attempting to discern God’s will.
As we come to worship, let us invite God into our questions. Into our wondering about how our faith is relevant to our lives. Into our careful consideration of the next steps we might take. Let us worship God, with discerning hearts and open minds.

OPENING PRAYER (unison)
(Acts 1) Debbie Young - Liturgist
You know our hearts, O Lord. You know the weariness that we bring. The stress. The struggle. And you know our joy as well and our awareness of the blessings in our lives. Be with us, O God, in this time of worship. Renew our hearts. Strengthen our faith. And increase our commitment to following Jesus in ways that make a difference, for others and for ourselves. Amen.

BLESSING THE OFFERING (unison)
O God, we bring to you this offering, and ask you to bless it and use it to make your reign known in our world.
In Jesus’s name, we pray. Amen.
HYMN: Crown Him with Many Crowns
UMC Hymnal #327
The disciples looked up to heaven, and then looked around at each other. With their minds enlightened, and their hearts set free, they went forth rejoicing, singing, and praying, and waiting for the Spirit’s coming.
Let us, too, go forth confident in God.
Let us rejoice in one another, as we wait in prayer for the surprise of the Spirit. Amen.
DEPART IN PEACE…Shalom!
