CENTERING WORDS

(Psalm 19)  Pastor Bob

One of our lectionary readings this week is Psalm 19. In verse fourteen we hear, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”

CALL TO WORSHIP  (Mark 8)

Debbie Young - Liturgist

Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” The disciples give him feedback from what they’d been hearing from the crowds. “John the Baptist? Elijah? One of the prophets?” Jesus further asked them, “But who do you say that I am?”

It is a question that is asked of each one of us. Who do we say that Jesus is? Who is Jesus for you? Let’s worship God together.

Sing praises to God with the mighty firmament, for truly the heavens are telling the glory of God. As we sing our praises, let us share from our abundance to the glory of God.

BLESSING OF THE OFFERING

(Proverbs 22)  (Unison)

Glorious God, your teachings are more to be desired than fine gold and precious silver; your blessings are more to be sought than all the jewels of the earth.

May the gifts we bring before you today share your blessings with those in need.

In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.

BENEDICTION  (Mark 8)      Pastor Bob

Friends, take this question that Jesus asks each one of us, into your prayer and meditation this week: “Who do you say that I am?” Spend some time considering how it is that you uniquely answer that question.

And may the grace of God, the love of Jesus Christ, and the soul-renewing encouragement of the Holy Spirit be with you. Amen.

Depart in Peace. Shalom.
