Second Sunday of
We Gather as the Body of Christ
WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
PRAYER OF PREPARATION
O God, I can’t pretend to be anyone I am not. I bring my faith and my doubt to worship. Accept me and guide me, as I learn more about you and who you are calling me to be. Amen.
CALL TO WORSHIP
In the book of Acts 4:32, we read this description of a gathering of the earliest church, “Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul…” What might that have meant for them, to be of “one heart and soul”? That they believed exactly the same thing, had the same emotional response to the death and resurrection of Jesus? Probably not. Human beings aren’t wired that way, are we? We are different.
We respond in different ways.
Perhaps it simply means that they were united in their faith desire. Wanting to join together to worship and to seek to understand. Wanting to be in community, in Christ. Wanting more together than they could ever hope to find on their own. Bond together, with the heart and soul of Christ Jesus.
Let us worship God, as we join together with our faith desire, as the body of Christ.

HYMN: We Walk by Faith
The Faith We Sing Hymnal #2196
Jesus invited Thomas to touch the nail marks in his hands, meeting Thomas exactly where he needed to be met. Jesus invites OUR honest faith, and that can, and often does, include some doubt.
May you hear and respond to Jesus’ invitation to YOU, to honestly express your faith and your doubt. And may you sense Jesus meeting you, at the point of your need.
May the love of God - Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer - be with you. Amen.
